My journey to Nashville started in 2008. While I’ve always been fascinated by the USA and its plethora of music genres, it was on a trip in Alabama I heard a song by Little Big Town on television that changed my life. Back then LBT was an upcoming vocal group, pretty much unknown in the Netherlands (these days winners of several Grammy’s, CMA’s and ACM’s). Their music grasped my ear and my heart so much, I never let it go. I sprinted to the first Bestbuy I came across and loaded up my cart with all their music I could find, plus some other country artists I didn’t know about yet. On the road to Orlando that same trip, I bought my first ukulele. Inspired by the narratives, catchy melodies and sweet harmonies in country music, I started writing songs myself. Always in mind, those ‘three chords and the truth.’

Four years later I went to record a demo and met with producer/composer/songwriter Henk Pool (known for “Testify to Love” – Avalon/Wynona Judd, “Als alle lichten zijn gedoofd” – Marco Borsato). From the get go we hit it off and the main topic of our convo was Nashville and country music. Henk knew all the artists I so admired; Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, Dixie Chicks, Sugarland, The Band Perry, Amy Grant and… Little Big Town. Even better, he knew Wayne Kirkpatrick, the songwriter behind their first three albums! Obviously, I could hardly contain my excitement. I stepped out the door that day with a demo and a new buddy in music, but also with a dream that suddenly seemed to get a little closer.

And now, today, I am recording an EP myself, with Henk in Chad Cromwell’s LampLight Studio. I’m pretty much bursting of enthusiasm, because Henk has managed to gather an amazing group of musicians for this project! Let me introduce you to:

Chad Cromwell – on Drums (played with Joe Walsh (Eagles), Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Neil Young, Mark Knopfler, Peter Frampton and Lady Antebellum).

Chris Rodriguez – on Guitar (played with Keith Urban, Kelly Clarkson, Kenny Loggins, Amy Grant, Wynona Judd, Kenny Rogers, Shania Twain and Faith Hill).

Jimmie Lee Sloas – on Bass (played with Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, LeAnn Rimes, Kellie Pickler, Reba McEntire and Jessica Simpson).

Dan Dugmore – on Steel/Guitar (played with Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, David Crosby, Trisha Yearwood, Deana Carter, Tim McGraw, Neil Diamond, Faith Hill, Patty Loveless and Stevie Nicks).

The dream becomes reality, the studio is booked, the amazing musicians are on board.

Nashville, here I come!

It’s been a long time coming.
I may not have been around for too long.
But my dream has.
And it has seen and heard it all.
Now, reality is finally catching up on my heartfelt dream.
And this is the beginning;
The beginning of me.

Welcome to my story
